You’ve landed at the Mountain Air Soaring Association’s website (MASA)! We’re a USHPA Chapter serving Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho and currently managing the Inklers Point, Parker Mountain, Eagle Mountain and Steptoe Butte flying sites. We’re very busy adding new flying sites in our area. Stay tuned for new sites during 2026!
MASA is also a 501(c)3 non-profit dba “Mountain Air Soaring Association” and located in Chewelah, Washington.
Flying at our sites ranges from ridge to thermal soaring – often with resident eagles and hawks. Our sites are both paragliding and hang gliding friendly. Come visit us this summer in June (June 5-15) when a few of our Chapter members will be making themselves available to give flying site introductions to our existing and new sites. For further information on our flying sites please visit our Site Guides. You can also sign up for our Let’s go Fly! Newsletter, check out our online forum and visit our Members’ Bios.

This Google Map contains the locations of our Flying Sites along with information all pilots should review including the locations of launches, LZs, important geographic features (thermal triggers), photographs and Flying Site access news and restrictions. Please get to know these sites and their geography before your site introductions. This map is a supplement to our individual Flying Site Guides (which are a ‘must study’ before site introductions).

In the Chewelah area we’ve gotten to know a few landowners and public lands managers. Fine people all! The community is very welcoming to our sports. MASA is a member of the Chewelah Chamber of Commerce and devoted to helping with community projects. This video produced by the Chamber will give you a great feel for the Community!
