Inklers Point …

has a set of weather instruments at the back of the Top Launch. We watch their data online like a hawk to determine not just the conditions at Inklers but they also suggest the conditions at Parker and Eagle Mountains.

We port the data from these instruments to the WeatherUnderground.
You can see that data below for Inklers’ current conditions.

NOAA Point Forecasts for:

For the Top Launch at Inklers Point the forecasted wind speed can be multiplied by a factor of 1.5-2. Often a forecasted SW wind of 7 mph or more yields 10-12 mph ridge soarable conditions.

Our usual flying site of choice in the Chewelah area is Inklers Point if ridge soaring is on. If wind speeds are light we head to Parker or Eagle Mountain.

Eagle is best in S to SSW winds of 5-10+ mph. Stronger winds from the SW to W should be avoided as rotors from the trees to the SW and W of launch will cause considerable launch area turbulence.

Steptoe can be flown in a variety of wind directions and speeds. The SW and E faces of Steptoe are the most broad and offer the best ridge soaring conditions.
